Escape from Gangsta Island
This is Bernard Chapin's excellent recount of his days working at an alternative High School in the Chicago area. I highly recommend this not only because it is an almost unbelievable trip into the madness of one disfunctional public school but it is extremely well written. The link is the eighth chapter of a serialization which is presented on the website mensnewsdaily.com. Chapin's story revolves around the hiring of an insane Principal who turns a fairly well run school into her private playpen, a monument to her ego.
I urge you to read this from the beginning and I don't doubt you will soon be anxiously waiting for the next chapter just like me.
