Steele is Wrong

Powerline calls out Michael Steele for his interview on CNN regarding the GOP and illegal immigration.

Steele: "I think Karl Rove is exactly right about that and that we need, as a party, to be mindful that our prior actions in this area, and certainly our rhetoric in this area, has not been the most welcoming and the most supportive of helping those who want to assimilate into the way of life of America, learning English, getting a good job, coming to the process in a legitimate way, has not helped that."

John Hinderaker comments: "What on earth is Steele talking about? He happily confirms the Democrats' unfair stereotype of Republicans as anti-immigrant know-nothings."

Steele confirms the stereotype because he is leading the RNC within the narrative and not reality. This strategy in that arena is a loser, just like the 2008 election.

Maddening Problem

Video Games:
"If you aren't literate in all things football, calling plays in a Madden football game is a little like reading hieroglyphics. There are arrows, X's, and O's, but if you aren't a coach yourself or a hardcore football fan, they're all just questions marks.

And that's a real problem. While the Madden series annually leads the pack with strong sales, it's also notorious for being somewhat impenetrable to casual players."

I get the X's and O's but it still takes too long to learn the games. If I had other lives to lead I would love to spend one playing some video games but I quit after Tecmo Bowl.

Thoughts on 2012

Romney and Palin likely make better supporters than ticket leaders.

I don't have a favorite for the GOP 2012 Presidential nomination but electability has to be considered and in my mind that leaves Romney and Palin playing a supportive role rather than headlining.

Palin has an image issue that I would rather not contend with in opposing Obama. She may have been unfairly branded by the MSM but the narrative has been established. Romney has the health care issue which seems like more than just a strike against him. I thought McCain was done as a potential GOP candidate after he supported the 2007 immigration reform/scam effort but I was wrong. Maybe Romney can overcome his mistake if he admits it and uses it as a lesson learned in order to run against the national health care legislation but he recently defended his involvement in Mass. heal care and he sounded awfully slick to me. I didn't buy it. From CATO:

"When you run down this list of elements in the Obama plan and the Romney plan, they are all identical," says Michael Cannon, the Cato Institute's director of Health Policy Studies, in a new video running on the group's website. "Both the Romney plan and the Obama plan are essentially a government takeover of the health care sector of the economy."

I don't know enough about the other names mentioned for 2012 but I am optimistic that the GOP will not conduct their primary the same way they did in 2008.

Time Machine

It is not a TARDIS but it is the next best thing!

I'll be there more than once although I'll be traveling the old fashioned way and in the same old time stream.

Such a Fine Sight to See

Gun battle in Englewood

I heard about the existence of video of this event on the Roe Conn show but I have only found this snippet via Fox News. Has anyone seen the whole thing?

World's hottest chili calls out Bill O

"Bring it on Bill O, let's see if you can handle me," says the impudent chili.

Tests by Warwick University rate the new variety at 1,067,286 on the Scoville Scale which is used to measure the heat of peppers.

The former record-holder, the Indian Bhut Jolokia, is 1,041,427. A jalapeno measures just 2,500 to 5,000. Weapons-grade pepper spray is 2,000,000.

The Lincs variety is named Infinity for its "never-ending" burn, which cannot be quelled by even the best antidote, milk.

A novice who eats it can require hospital treatment for mouth blisters and burns. [Emphasis added.]

Diego asks: Is it hotter than Taco Bell's Mild Sauce? If so, I'd have to pass as it is too hot for me.
